Banned commercials!

Ever go on Youtube and type in "banned commercials" they may not all be American, the reason i say that is because a couple of them were in french, but still it is a way to take some time out of your day if you have nothing else better to do.

Lots of these are hilarious and i guess t.v. figured they were to much. Although it's kind of hypocritical, all of a sudden somethings to obscene to be on t.v. even though it's been on their for the longest time. It just makes no sense to me.

I think personally the rating system is a load of crap. If the people who actually rated the films, movies, music, and games actually had a life and weren't so stiff if you know what I mean. Their decisions wouldn't be so ridiculous.

Heres what kind of ticks me off though. You go into a store pickup a game that's animated, mind you it's probably made for kids. But no you have to pull out your i.d. to make sure you're of age. Who came up with this idea seriously ? It's not like it's drugs or something, and I don't think that if you play a game, kill somebody in the game. You're just gonna pop-up with the idea "oh i'm gonna kill someone" that's honestly the dumbest thing i've ever heard of in my life.

For all the kids out there that want to play a game without showing their i.d. you can go online and play Americas Army, among many other games where you can "kill" other players. That's what I think is stupid. You can go online, download tons of games for FREE and you can kill all day long, no rating system on that thank god. Anyways my point is you can download games for free kill all day long even if your 12, go to a store and they want to see your i.d. oh and you have to pay?

Free games are better although they do get boring, as do all games. The downloads can be sometimes huge depending on what you want to play ranging from 1 megabyte to 4 gigabytes. They could be more or less who knows. If your sitting on a t3 connection then your set, if you're on dial-up however you might as well walk down to the store, buy a game, play it for a month or two, go on a weeks vacation and your download might be done.

I don't know how long it would take someone to download 4 gigs on a dial-up connection but i know just to check my e-mail on dial-up it took me 15 minutes. I went and watched t.v., ate, and read a magazine and it still wasn't done. Obviously i'm just knocking the whole dial-up idea but you get the point of course.

Tell me what you think, although this was a mixed blog post of everything, post your commentary, suggestions, and what you think on how our wonderful government rates what we watch and play!!!

Useless products.

We were looking online the other day and they had a rabbit pee catcher. Now what's the chance of your rabbit purposely peeing outside of the cage ? Kind of makes me wonder who invented the product in the first place.

I'm sure there are many more useless things you can buy out there. If you look on google, you should find some rather hilarious products like the ones explained on this website here.

Bringing this up makes me think of not so useless products, but I have one particular item in mind. The magic bullet. It was a good idea and all of that but it's a piece of crap. Maybe other people have had more success than me with it but after about 5 minutes of using it, you could smell the motor over-heating.

The only useful product that i've bought that was "as advertised on t.v." was the double boiler fondue set. This was actually useful. Since you could go out to wal-mart or kroger. Which happen to be both grocery stores, not everybody has the same stores. Anyways you can buy chocolate bark for about 1-4$ depending on how much you want. Get butterscotch bark, throw in some pretzels and we call them haystacks around my house. Bunch them up and put them on wax paper. Well i'm sure you get the point.

Post what useless products you've seen on television, suggestions and commentary is welcome as well. Thank you all :)

Buying for less.

Everybody online is always trying to get the best buy. Funny how theres a store named just that. But anyways buying online is the cheapest way to go when it comes to computers as well as electronics among many other things such as antiques.

Ebay is well advertised everywhere. You hear of it in movies and on t.v. all the time.

Buy.com I've never used this site but it's been on t.v. alot.

Newegg is also useful but only for electronics I bilieve.

The one that I find most useful for electronics, cameras, usb drives, hard drives etc. is Tigerdirect.com I've bought from here and I especially go here on the black friday sale. Instead of going out because stores are packed.

Google has it's own shopping search engine which is fairly useful as well. You type in a keyword, and it has list options.

Have any suggestions as to where you can shop for less, commentary, as well as suggestions are welcome.

Free* stuff online.

Ever see an ad in the top right of the screen saying FREE* Ipod nano. Not true at all, these ads are quite popular on the web and you will find them everywhere. Some of them even talk which can be really annoying.

If you have the program ABP however they are easily blocked and you will never have to deal with them again. ABP meaning ad block plus is a firefox add-on that I have previously talked about.

The catch to these so called "free" things are one of two things. Running in circles, I don't mean literally but clicking after clicking after clicking. It never stops and never seems to end. Or they require you to sign up for a bunch of spam give you the work around deal and at the very bottom of the page it says you have to do one silver offer, two platinum offers, and one gold offer.

What this means is you have to actually subscribe to the "offers" in order to get what you want. Now wether this is legitimate or not, I don't have a clue. I have heard of people signing up for the "offers" and getting what they want as long as they unsubscribe after the trial period is up. But what happens if you forget you've signed up, they charge you. You get overdrafted then you have to deal with what seems to be your worst nightmare.

Truth is it's not free as long as it says FREE* it's a pure give away that you have to pay/subscribe for something in order to get it. If you even get it at all. The whole point of writing this post was because I wanted to order FREE* prints online of photos, there is one small catch though. Not a really bad one but it's something they should tell people before hand. You have to pay shipping and handling. On dot photo it was in the $3.00 range. You get 50 free prints.

On shutterfly however you only get 25 free prints but it's 1$ cheaper. I guess it depends on how much money you'd like to spend. At the moment though due to not having a job, and the poor economy, gas prices on the rise as well as many other things i'm going to pinch every penny I can.

Free software

With people trying to stay secure constantly i suggest a few free programs out there that will keep you secure.

The first one I would like to introduce is Avast, although you do have to register it's still free. One thing I like about this program is the fact that it talks. Nice to know you have a virus at 4 a.m. !!! Sorry for the sarcasm but the voice gets annoying really fast when it's unable to delete a trojan. It says it over and over and over again with a little nag screen.

A utility that's actually useful is dban. Google it on the web. Boot and nuke is a powerful formatting tool. Need I say more ? It's something you would use to wipe your hard drive before you sell it or give it away.

Glary utilities is also useful. It comes with many features. It does a whole line of things in one click so you don't have to, cleaning cookies, web history, fixing registry as well as many other things.

An on screen recording tool, Cam studio. you can record anything that's on your screen wether it be webcams or video chats. If you need any help finding links i'd be glad to help you in your search. This doesn't really help your computer but it is useful and easy to use. It's useful for youtube videos.

Speaking of cam programs another useful one is manycam, you can play pre-made videos as if you had a webcam, even if you don't.

Theres one last program i'd like to talk about and that would be comodo firewall. It has the ability to make all of your ports stealth as well as several other good and easy to use features built-in. I would suggest using this if you don't have the money to invest into cost-worthy programs such as mccafee.

There are many other useful free programs to keep your computer secure. I've only listed the ones I have personally used and had no trouble with.

If you have any suggestions to other programs, software, freeware or anything else you would like to add. Feel free to post/comment.

Things to do for fun.

Sitting at home being bored gets old quickly. Surfing youtube how-to videos lets you find some interesting things.

For instance, mixing peroxide with mountain dew makes it glow. But I highly doubt it's drinkable after. Or this one everybodys seen and there's a parody of it on several shows. Mentos and Cocola or a generic off-brand soda.

I've also seen Youtube videos of people putting ice on their arms with salt. My girlfriend done this like a week before I moved in on cam. She had a scar for about a month. Bodily harm isn't fun to me!

That and flipping a can of air duster up-side down. It blows out liquid which then freezes. I don't advise that anyone tries something that would hurt them. If you're easily entertained like me you should be able to find something and make it keep you busy for quite a while. Wether it be the internet or something recreational.

Tons of sites out there with flash mini-games such as Addictinggames.com . Or if you have the system requirements you can easily go and find an MMORPG or whatever other genre you like on the internet. Games like Maplestory, WoW, Rumble fighter, Flyff, among many others to choose from are all free. Although some do have cash shops which give you the better advantage within the game.

I think personally the cash shops make the game un-fair because not every kid has mom & dad willing to invest 20-100$ into a game just because the computer babysits the child for 1-6 hours out of the day. Not to be knocking on people and their parenting skills but this seems to be sadly true for most parents.

Yeah I might not have kids but keeping your kid on the computer for 6 hours out of the day playing video games can't be that healthy. Hell it's even proven it's not healthy.

Have any suggestions, rants, complaints, or your opinion maybe ? Feel free to post.

Freebies.

Who doesn't like free stuff ? You can get a list of free samples here. They list new ones on a daily basis. Anywhere from food, razors, beauty products or clothes. Practically anything you can think of.

There are a few that you might have to pay shipping on but i rarely see those. One thing about getting free stuff over the internet. You may see the same freebie multiple times in multiple places which also means you can sign up more than once.

Sometimes you can sign up for the same freebie using the same address but typing it a different way. For instance "13 rock springs ave." The new way would be "13 rock springs avenue" doing this only works sometimes.

You can sign up once per household and once per year. Meaning if you get Chex mix and the next month is a new year and the freebie is still around you can just sign up again. Most offers take anywhere from a week to 2 weeks. I'm not guaranteeing they come on time but by the time you get them if your like me you forget about it by the time it comes.

A useful program to use while doing freebies and filling all those wonderful forms out is roboform. Which does work with firefox. It's very user friendly and easy to setup. The one downside to this is it doesn't fill out everything but it does fill out all the necessary name and address forms. It wont work with flash forms as well. If you have any questions about the program itself I'd be happy to answer.

Comments, suggestions, as well as thoughts, or something I may have left out are all welcome.

Torrenting, ever wondered how it's done ?

This is the simplest thing in the world and easier to explain then make some Youtube video out of it so millions of people can copy me to get views. Although if you're the type to learn from a video then that might be for you.

Lets get to the instructions. First you need a bittorrent client, any of them will do. Limewire has one built in, or bitlord, bitcomet and azureus. Those are all of the ones you could go download, after you look them up on google. There are far more others out there than that. But those are easy to use.

The tutorial will be based of bitlord. You can get it from http://www.bitlord.com/ . You need to download Winrar as well. You can get it in almost any language at http://www.rarlabs.com/ . Some people say this program works and others don't but if you would like to try it. Peer guardian 2 is available on the web. The name says it all. Now you need a torrent file. Open bitlord after you've installed it.

The green icon on your desktop or where you put it. Download the torrent file from where ever you want. Drag and drop the torrent file into the client. it will ask you some questions about the download. Stating how many files are in it and if you would like to start downloading now or at a later time. This is your own decision. You can modify the options on the client.

One thing about torrenting, files come in many formats. Some you may have never heard of but i guarantee all can be opened. Rar is one of the more popular torrent files due to the ability to chop up files. When you open your folder after you've download the torrent if theres tons of files with a .rar extension. Go to the first one 001.rar or what ever, open it, drag and drop it's contents to your desktop and you're done. You've just extracted a .rar file.

I don't support illegal downloading. Torrenting is good for moving large files (1mb - 20gb or more) Depending on seeds and how fast people decide to let their upload capacity be is how fast you will get the file you are downloading. Torrenting is a large community, so whatever you download, seed to the ratio requirements posted on the site you're downloading from or seed as long as you can.

As advertised on T.V.

Hulu is one thing me and my girlfriend have been watching alot lately including her father. We don't have cable for the week so we decided to watch t.v. online. The quality is great although on some episodes of E.R. it seemed to lag through the video. The commercials wouldn't lag though.

That's one downside to the website the commercials. But they're only 10-15 seconds long, also there's usually 5-6 in each video. This how they broadcast television shows legally and legitimatelly though. They have a wide variety of shows you would see on t.v. including shows that aren't copyrighted anymore like the old black and white classics.

This brings me to talk about Veoh.com, Which is the same thing practically but most of the videos they hold on their site comes from Hulu.com. They also have t.v. shows that I don't see aired anymore like the Addams family. Or is it aired ? Well I just assumed not seeing it on the t.v. in about 8 years or so.

Anyways you should check out both Veoh and Hulu. They're both legal, so you don't have to worry about getting caught or going to a video where it says " this video has been removed for copyright infringement". The sites may bring back some good memories.

It's a great way to consume time if maybe your satellites out. Mine done that alot when I had one at my old house in fact everytime it rained. Or you just choose not to pay the exspensive prices of cable.

Post your comments, thoughts and suggestions to other free *legal* video sites.

Redbox codes & rentals.

If you haven't heard they offer free redbox code rentals. The code "REDBOX" if you're a new customer, then "BREAKROOM" and "DVDONME" the codes can be used at most Redboxes by Mcdonalds, once per credit card.

This includes the rechargeable credit cards that you find in stores. I could keep you updated on the codes if you like, one code gets sent out every tuesday this month. Last month it was every monday. The codes don't always work but when I tried at the redbox inside wal-mart they worked 100%.

I could update you frequently on the ones that work for me. Most of the codes that are passed out only work once for that day per credit card. This means you can rent one on mom, dads, and your credit card. Plus the codes I gave you which equals out to be 12 free movies, and 3 free every week. This is not in any way illegal. Redbox really does pass out free DVD rentals.

Also if your an honest customer helping people you may get a free rental or two as well. I went to the redbox down the road it wasn't working correctly, so I couldn't get the movies I had reserved online. I got home called them up in the morning. They still had my movies reserved and told me the redbox was working. Then gave me two free rentals for going down there and back so If i didn't want the movies and they still charged me I would still be able to get two movies next time.

I read on a blog about a guy that saw that someone left the dvd in the slot. They tried to return it but they walked away as soon as they put it inside of the machine instead of waiting for it to say "your dvd has been returned successfully". The guy tried several times to return the movie. He couldn't return it so he called redbox and they gave him instructions on how to return it and gave him a redbox rental for being an honest customer.

Tell me about your redbox stories, what you think, your opinion and your thoughts on the way redbox rewards it's customers.

Cactus juice "Elements Rain"

I've looked in stores several times all over the place for this product only to find that most stores have stopped carrying it. I've also looked on the internet and snapple still has the site up so I'm wondering if it got discontinued or what happened. People have claimed on the internet that it has been "discontinued due to poor marketing" but I'm not sure I want to believe that.
Rumours can easily be started over the web.
Are there any other cactus juice products out there I could possibly try? I tried a blue monster the other day It was really sour but only 20 calories in the whole can. Me and my girlfriend also tried Loca Mocha. Which was fairly good taste just like any other iced coffee.
The elements energy drink is produced by the same people that make snapple which is probably why it's so good. When i first tried this it was only a dollar then like a week later after it became popular in my town it went up to 1.69 plus sales tax. That made me not buy it as much but every now and then I would spend the extra money.
They have many other elements energy drinks which you might've tried and you can find the list of them here. One thing i'd like to point out is the unique aluminum shaped bottle. They stated that people with "action packed lives could take the bottle anywhere with ease" It's much better than snapples regular glass bottles.
If your going on a bike ride or a trip or some sort I could imagine that you wouldn't want to bring your liquids/food in anything breakable. I'm glad they thought of that.
If you have comments, suggestions, thoughts, or you would like to me about other energy drinks available feel free to ask and tell. I would like to find some other sort of agave cactus energy drink. I'll keep you posted if I find anything.

I really did like this one for the longest time, they sold it in about every walgreens and gas station you could think of right next to the sodas. I looked for an alternative but in dissapointment I settled for arizona sweet tea for 99 cents.

Fun at wunderland!

We went to the arcade about a week ago. I've never been to Wunderland but it was fun. Although it was swarming with kids when we got there around 7p.m. So we went across the street to eat at Mcdonalds.

Amazingly they undercharged me at Mcdonalds, usually they mess everything up. But I ended up giving two apple pies to a bum. We sat there for about an hour and walked back over. I ddin't realise in the beginning how cheap it was going to be. But at 10 cents per game, per person. A whole 5 dollars for the both of us to get in.

The money went by fast but they do have a wide variety of games. But no food ? Also no machines that offer candy. We had thought we found one but it was only filled with stuffed animals and keychains.

They had about every game that a normal Chuck E. Cheese would have but it was much more cheaper. For instance in Chuck E. Cheese. It's 25 cents per game you get a couple of coins free when you buy more. Yeah I have been there many times when I was a kid but it's far more expensive now to go anywhere it seems.

Dwarf Bunny !!

My girlfriend recently purchased a dwarf bunny. It is cute, white with grey hair. Not exactly the one we wanted but we took it anyways. It was 20 dollars at scamps. We asked the lady there if we could get a box to carry it in but they said they had none.

In the back of my mind I was thinking this lady just screwed us over. They conned is into buying the pet carrier because we didn't think of "oh they might run out of pet boxes". Although it's a PET STORE! They should have plenty of boxes in stock. We payed the extra 5 bucks for the carrier we didn't need. Went home on the bus.

Some creepy old guy kept asking us what was in the carrier like it was a snake or something. Instead of going to the expensive ridiculous priced store Pets mart. We went into wal-mart which is right next door and under the price of 15 bucks or so we got a water bottle, 10 pound bag of food, and bedding.

At Pets mart however for one small bottle for a dwarf bunny it was 25 dollars. They look like the exact same thing. I didn't understand what the difference was between the two. Obviously they think their products are made of gold.

Anyways we got it home. My girlfriend has two other animals, a cat, and an african grey parrot. Amazingly they all got along. But we did make this hilarious video of the bird making barking, whistling and spaceship noises attempting to shoo the bunny away from his cage.

Free movies online.

I've been wondering to myself if this is legal or illegal. There are tons of these sites out there. Sites like Veoh. Although I know Veoh is the only one that does this legally and legitematelly. The main one I've found on the internet is Nabolister.

Nabolister is a "search engine" for movies hosted on sites like zshare, supernovatube, divxvine, and many others. I personally think it's illegal. The law seems to always be stretched on the internet though. But I haven't seen any news on them attempting to this so I'm asking you, yes the viewer/reader to give me some insight.

Tell me what you think. Should this be bothered with ? What should/shouldn't be done on the internet?

PS2 to PC usb converter.

Okay I waited about a week for this item. I payed only 8 dollars. Sony ps2 controller was not included but who doesn't have one of these laying around. Wether it came from your grand-sons gaming console or your own. I thought there was going to be more to it. It came with a cd with a driver on it that I didn't use due to my cd-rom drive not even working on this computer.

Luckily Windows Vista automatically installed the drivers for it. It was ready for play in under about a minute. It automatically configured the controller depending on what game you went into. My girlfriend plays this online game called Rumble Fighter. It automatically configured to that very easily. Although it does take some getting used to because there was no way to re-configure the buttons.

If you want to configure the buttons for your own ease of use this product is not for you. But if you're looking for something that's hassle free, cheap & inexspensive. This is what you might be looking for.

You can find other versions of the product on google or ebay.
